All campaigning activities for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) election will end today (Oct 8) at midnight, with five parties contesting the vote scheduled to be held on October 11.
The Election Commission (EC) said that 53,384 eligible voters will cast their votes across 47 polling centres to elect 28 members to the Pradeshiya Sabha.
Eleven members would be elected through the first-past-the-post voting system while 17 members would be elected through the proportional representation method.
The Elpitiya PS election, which was to be held in 2017, had been suspended by the Supreme Court after the Democratic United National Front (DUNF) party had challenged the EC's decision to reject its nomination paper.
