A cannabis cultivation comprising some 19,000 plants at the Yala Forest Reserve was destroyed yesterday (Oct 15), police said.
Special Task Force (STF) personnel had raided the cultivation located in the Kirinda Police Division between the Mahapothana, and Pahalapothana areas, in the reserve.
Police said that these plants had ranged between five inches and 1.2 feet.
Some plants have been handed over as samples to the Forest Office at the Yala Forest Reserve for investigations.
