A corruption case filed against former Civil Aviation minister Priyankara Jayaratne in the Colombo High Court was withdrawn today.
This came after the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption (CIABOC), which prosecuted the case, informed court that the case had been filed without the approval of its three commissioners.
CIABOC lawyers told court they would withdraw the case on the premise that the case would be refiled.
Jayaratne was accused of pressurising the Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Catering to make a payment of Rs. 330,000 to Gambada Caterers of Marawila while he was the Minister of Civil Aviation in 2014.
