The case filed against former Chief Justice Mohan Peiris, Appeal Court Judge A.H.M.D. Nawas and former CEB Secretary M.M.C Ferdinandez was fixed for hearing on May 07 today (Feb 26).
Cases were filed against the said individuals for failing to act against those involved in a fraud that had taken place during the tenure of Mohan Peiris as Attorney General while purchasing land belonging to Lanka Electricity Co. (Pvt) Ltd. (LECO).
Appeal Court Judge A.H.M.D. Nawas has also been named as a suspect since he functioned as the Deputy Solicitor General at the time in which the fraud had been committed.
The suspects have been accused of violating Section 70 of the Bribery Act.
