Case against MP Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife postponed until March 25

The Colombo High Court has postponed the hearing of the case filed against MP Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife until March 25.

The case against the said individuals has been filed by the Attorney General over a financial fraud.

The accused are alleged to have obtained Rs 64 million by illegally selling a land in Meethotamulla, Kolonnawa to a businessman. The land is reported to have been sold after after removing the illegal occupants of the land.

Meanwhile, the recording of a statement from Retired Army Major General Wimal Fernando who had provided witness on behalf of the prosecution concluded today (Feb 14).

He had told court that he had served as the General Manager of Silicon Technology which was owned by Jehard Mendis who is a complainant in the case.

High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne before whom the case is being heard also issued summons on the 50th witness to appear before court on March 25.

The Attorney General had filed the case claiming that the fraud was committed between April 10 and June 02, 2015
