Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike has left to Maldives to attend the inauguration ceremony of Ibrahim Solih, the newly elected President of Maldives.
Mrs. Bandaranaike is expected to grace the ceremony as a special guest after having accepted an invitation from Mr. Solih.
Issuing a media release the Mrs.Bandaranaike's office noted that the Maldivian President had extended a personal invitiation to her while thanking Sri Lanka's efforts towards "consolidating democracy in the Maldives".
Mr. Solih had also thanked her for her tremendous support in bringing together and facilitating dialogue between the colaition partners of Maldives during a very difficult time.
