The Engineers Union of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has threatened to resort to a strike action if salary issues are not resolved with immediate effect.
At present the Engineers Union is currently engaged in a work-to-rule campaign across the country, a Union spokesman told Times Online.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Power and Energy too conceded that it has received complaints regarding the failure of engineers to resolve electricity related issues after their duty hours.
Due to this reason, a huge delay is experienced in recitifying issues such as sudden electricity breakdowns in various parts of the country, a Ministry official said.
Accordingly, the Ministry is currently taking measures to ensure that this issue is resolved at the earliest, the official noted.
