The distribution of certificates that would exempt 45,000 drought affected women from microfinance loans upto
Rs 100,000 took place yesterday (Feb 14).
The event was held under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Weerasingham Hall in Jaffna.
A total of Rs 1400 million was spent by the government to repay the debts obtained by these people.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe called on the public to obtain their loans under the Enterprise Sri Lanka concessionary loan service.
