The Chief Magistrate's court today (Aug 8) agreed to ease the bail conditions imposed on Perpetual Treasuries Ltd Chairman Arjun Aloysius over the Central Bank Bond scam.
Accordingly, Mr. Aloysius has been instructed to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) between 9 am and 12 noon on the last Sunday of every month.
Previously, the court had instructed him to appear before the CID on Sunday's of every week.
During today's hearing, Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne had relaxed the bail condition by citing that the Attorney General, who is prosecuting the case, has not expressed objection in that regard.
Court also announced that the accused had not absconded court or committed any offence while being on bail.
Aloysious is among the chief suspects accused of causing massive losses to the government through the illegal issuance of treasury bonds of the Central Bank in 2015.
