A Chinese national and two locals have been arrested for operating an illegal communication centre in Ethukala, Negombo today (Jun 07).
A total of 402 iPhones, nearly 17,500 SIM cards, 60 internet routers, and 3 laptops were seized from the suspects along with other communication devices at the time of the arrest.
It was later learn that the Chinese national did not have a valid visa, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said adding that the other two suspects were residents of Negombo, and Kalpitiya.
Investigations have revealed that the suspects were linked to the recovery of 1475 SIM cards in Kochchikade last month, the Police Spokesman noted.
