A Chinese tourist has died due to drowning in Matara, police said.
The deceased, a female, had drowned after she had been washed away in the seas off Madiha, Matara.
She had been lodged at a tourist hotel in the area.
Police said the tourist had been pronounced dead upon admission to hospital after she had been rescued by individuals in the vicinity of the incident.
