An individual who is alleged to have aided and abetted drug dealer Sunil Shantha to escape from the Welikada prison was arrested earlier today (Jan 05).
The suspect was arrested in Lunugamvehara by officials of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Reportedly, the suspect had disguised himself as a prison guard and helped the convict to escape prison custody on November 22 last year.
However, Mr. Shantha was later arrested on December 12, 2018 when he was hiding in Matara.
An Attorney at law and his wife was shot dead in the car park of a super market in Akuregoda today evening.
