The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is prepared to record statements from former ministers Rishad Bathiudeen and Rauff Hakeem over the Easter Sunday attacks, Deputy Solicitor General (DSG) Dileepa Peiris informed court today (Dec 23).
This was heard when the case filed against former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara for failing to prevent the April 21 terrorist attacks was taken up at the Colombo Magistrate's Court.
During today's hearing, Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage ordered both accused to be further remanded until January 6, 2020.
DSG Peiris, appearing for the CID, said the former President and some secretaries have not yet responded to requests seeking a date to obtain statements.
He also said that a statement would be recorded from Colombo Archbishop His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith following the Christmas Festival.
