A team of police environmental unit officers have launched a clean up operation in the Western province.
Senior DIG in charge of the Western province, Deshabandu Tennakoon told Times Online that in addition to the clean up programme leaflets will be distributed among residents in the area.
He said that residents will be advised not to leave garbage lying outside their premises and an awareness programme commencing from today will run for a week.
DIG Tennakoon said further that they hoped to distribute at least 600,000 leaflets
