One individual was arrested yesterday (Feb 18) by the Special Task Force (STF) in connection with the Keselwatta shooting incident which left one hospitalised last Sunday.
The suspect has been identified as Charindu Sankalpa alias 'Raina'. He is believed to be a close accomplice of organised criminal Keselwatte Dinuka who has been arrested in Dubai along with druglord 'Makandure Madush'.
STF personnel had also seized four grams of heroin and a sword which were in the possession of the suspect.
'Raina' is accused of involvement in the shooting incident which had taken place at around 7:30 pm on February 17.
Police suspect that the shooting was carried out by two unidentified gunmen who had arrived in a motrocycle and had opened fire at the victim while he was walking along Dam Street.
The victim who was identified as 22-year old M.J.Sadeepa Dilshan was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital for treatment.
