A close ally of wanted underworld criminal Rohana Manju alias 'Kalu Sagara' was arrested with heroin yesterday (Dec 5).
The suspect had been involved in a shooting incident during the run-up to the 2015 presidential election, and had once been granted bail over a drug trafficking case, police said.
Initially, the suspect had been apprehended with more than 600 grams of heroin during a raid carried out in Kaduwela.
Investigations carried out by the Police Narcotics Bureau had shown he had been involved in several crimes manipulated by 'Kalu Sagara' who is absconding arrest overseas.
