A close associate of underworld leaders 'Makandure Madush' and 'Kanjipaani Imran' was arrested yesterday (Jul 23).
The suspect, 27-year-old Sanjeewa Pushpakumara, is accused of abetting and plotting murders in which the underworld leaders have been involved.
He had been arrested by officers attached to the Colombo Crimes Division in Aluthgama.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
