UPFA Municipal Councilor Kulathissa Deeganage was released today on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
Mr. Geeganage was previously arrested by the Police Crimes Division for involvement in an incident which took place at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) in October last year. He was arrested for obstructing police officers at the CPC while also being involved in an unlawful gathering.
Accordingly, Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered that the Municipal Councillor be released on a cash bail of Rs 10,000 and a surety of Rs. 200,000.
Meanwhile, the Magistrate further remanded the Police officer belonging to Ministerial Security Division who was involved in the shooting of an individual and injury of two others when a tense situation took place at the Dematagoda CPC Head Office in October 2018. The officer was further remanded till February 1.
