The Coconut Development Authority (CDA) will conduct quality checks on coconut oil being sold in the market, a CDA spokesman told Times Online.
Explaining the reason for this move, the spokesman noted that several consumers have been complaining about the standard of oil which is being sold in the market.
Accordingly, CDA officials would randomly choose oil samples which are being sold to the people and would conduct a test in order to determine whether the product has been adulterated. These tests would commence on a district level next week and would gradually expand across the country.
The Authority noted that the law would be enforced on companies who are found to have been selling sub-standard or adulterated products.
