UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed that a committee be set-up to formulate the Presidential Election Manifesto of the Democratic National Front, an official at the Prime Minister's office said.
The committee will be headed by DNF Secretary Rajitha Senaratne and will include Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Minister Navin Dissanayake and further a two members. These two members are expected to be supporters of Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.
Further, Minister Ravi Karunanayake has been appointed to head the media campaigns to be carried out under the Swan symbol.
At the last two presidential elections, the candidates backed by the UNP contested under the same symbol.
The Democratic National Alliance is set to be launched at a gathering at Galle Face on October 9 where the campaigning will begin officially.
The above decisions were approved by the UNP Working Committee yesterday (Sept 26).
