A Police Constable who was reported to have gone missing in 2008 had been shot dead and buried, investigations have revealed.
Nagarasa Parashanthan, who was 23 years old at that time, had gone missing on July 27, 2008. A complaint in this regard had been lodged by his father on August 1, 2008, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said today (Jun 11).
He noted that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) which was investigating into the murder of two policemen in Vavunativu in November last year, had uncovered details regarding the missing constable as well.
Since then, three suspects have been arrested so far in connection with the murder.
Two suspects namely Thambimuttu Selvarasa, 32 alias ‘Mathan’ and Chandran Subramaniyam, 34 alias ‘Lingam’ were arrested on March 21.
The other suspect, 38-year old Ajanthan Deepan was taken into custody on April 04, Police Spokesman Gunasekara told the press. The suspects are currently being questioned by the CID, he added.
Meanwhile, steps have been taken to excavate the site in which the constable is believed to have been buried.
These excavations are taking place in the presence of the Batticaloa Magistrate and a Judicial Medical Officer, in the vicinity of a burial ground in Kokkadichcholai, Batticaloa.
