The constitutional council has put forward a list of seven nominees to fill the vacant positions of two Independent Commissions to President Maithripala Sirisena.
Issuing a press release, the Speaker’s Office said six names were proposed for the National Police Commission while one name was put forward towards the Public Services Commission.
These decisions were taken when the Constitutional Council met under the patronage of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya at the premises of the Parliament yesterday (Jan 23).
Further, the Council also took up the recommendations put forward by the President for the position of Appeal Court President. However, the Council is yet to arrive at a conclusive decisions regarding the nominees.
