The construction of Sri Lanka's largest drinking water supply project began under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena in Vadamarachchi, Jaffna yesterday (Aug 30).
The Rs 2 billion worth project which would see the harvesting of rain water for drinking purposes is expected to be completed within two years by the Department of Irrigation.
According to the President's Office, the project is expected to resolve drinking water issues faced by those in the North.
