Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) and the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) have been postponed until further notice.
The decision was taken by the Chairman of the COPE Committee Prof. Charitha Herath and Chairman of the COPA Committee Prof. Tissa Vitarana following the government's decision to suspend public gatherings due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country, Parliament's Communications Department said in a media release.
It was decided to open COPE and the COPA of the 9th Parliament for the media and the inaugural meetings were held on the 6th, under which COPE took into discussion the irregularities committed by the Ceylon Coal Company Limited in calling tenders for the purchase of coal.
COPA which was held on the 7th of October 2020, took into discussion the irregularities in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Council established to implement the Sustainable Development Goals for the year 2030.
