A rapid development could be experienced in the country if the present government’s projects are implemented during the next five or six years, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said today (Mar 31).
Mr. Wickremesinghe made these remarks at the 10th Yowun Puraya (Youth Camp) programme which concluded in Weerawila yesterday.
“In 2017, a rented house in Weerawila costed less than Rs 5000. However, nowadays it is difficult obtain a rented house in the area without paying a minimum of Rs 15,000,” the Prime Minister observed while cautioning that these prices would continue to rise in the years to come.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe further insisted that a stable economy was vital for the country in order to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
He added that the government must be financially equipped in order to pay back loans that have been obtained in the past. “We would be paying the largest share of debt this year,” the Prime Minister noted during his address.
