Colombo Magistrate’s Court today granted permission to former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa to travel abroad. The order was issued when an application filed by him was taken up for hearing before Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya. Gotabaya Rajapaksa had requested permission to travel to China in order to attend a Defence Seminar, his attorney informed the Court.
Previously Court issued a directive to the Department of Immigration and Emigration to temporarily impound the passport of the former Defence Secretary over the floating armory case.
