The Colombo Magistrate's court permitted the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to detain and carry out further questioning on underworld leader 'Kanjipaani Imran' today (Aug 7).
The order was issued when the suspect was produced before magistrate Bandara Nelumdeniya for an examination in court. Following today's hearing, court ordered the suspect to be further remanded until September 4.
M.N. Mohamed Imran alias 'Kanjipaani Imran' had been arrested in Dubai along with a group of 30 including drug kingpin 'Makandure Madush' in February over the possession of narcotics during a party.
He had then been deported to the country before being taken into custody by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and then handed over to the CCD.
