The fingerprints of Parliamentarian Nishantha Muthuhettigama were ordered to be obtained when the case filed against him over an abduction was taken up before courts today (Feb 21).
MP Muthuhettigama who is the first suspect among five in the case has been accused of being involved in an abduction.
However, the Attorney General (AG) told court that police officers had informed him regarding the difficulty to obtain clear fingerprints of the suspect.
Therefore, the AG requested court to instruct the registrar in charge of finger printing at the Colombo Criminal Records Division to obtain the fingerprints of the Parliamentarian. Having taken into consideration the statements made by the AG, court had decided to grant approval to the request.
Udugama Vithanage, Lalith Dhammika, S.A. Dimuth Pradeep, N. Asanka Jayawardana, and V. Hasitha Akalanka are the other suspects in the case.
