The Government has commenced a programme targetted at raising awareness among employees of Ministries, Departments and Corporations regarding the Coronavirus and COVID-19, the disease caused by it.
The first of these programmes was held today for staff at the Presidential Secretariat. The President's Media Unit stated that Dr Deshantha Dissanayake, who conducted the programme, briefed the staff on how to identify the disease as well as how to minimise chances of contracting it.
Staff are expected to pass on what they have learned from these programmes to their family and to others in society. The objective of the programmes is to prevent the disease from spreading rapidly by educating people on ways to avoid it, the PMD added.
