With ten more persons tested positive for novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) today marking highest number of identified cases in a day, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka has increased to 142 while 173 persons are under observation at National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH), Health Promotion Bureau of Health Ministry said this evening(7.00pm).
According to the Epidemiology unit statistics, seventeen individuals have been recovered and discharged from IDH and 123 active patients are currently admitted to the special ward. Two patients have died due to COVID-19 while another Chinese tourist who was identified in January left the country after fully recovered.
At least five patients are under Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of IDH hospital. Health Officials have identified Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara as high risk areas for coronavirus.
