Two deaths were reported from Colombo 2 and Weligama by Thursday (10) night increasing the number of deaths from the virus to 146, Director General of Health Services confirmed.
The death in Weligama, a 54 year old female, has been a returnee from the United Arab Emirates who was transferred to Homagama base hospital from a quarantine centre. The cause of death stated by the DG of Health is kidney failure triggered by COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 469 COVID positive cases were detected yesterday increasing the total from the second wave to 26,985.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said 41 persons have been arrested during the past 24 hours for violating COVID-related health rules, including not wearing masks and failing to maintain social distance.
