Curfew in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Puttalam and Jaffna, identified as high-risk areas for the spread of COVID-19, will continue until further notice, the Presidential Secretariat announced this evening.
Curfew in all other districts will be temporarily lifted at 6.00am tomorrow (16) and will be reimposed again at 4.00pm the same day. The curfew in these districts will then continue till 6.00am on April 20.
The President's Office said that the public will be informed later on regarding how curfew will be imposed for these districts after 6.00am on April 20.
However, the Government has again requested members of the public to venture out of their homes only to purchase the most important basic essentials and to avoid unnecessary travel during times that the curfew is lifted.
All travel between districts continues to be banned except to those from essential services.
