The island-wide curfew imposed at 6.00pm on Friday (20) will be extended until 6.00am on Tuesday (24) for the districts of Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam, the Presidential Secretariat stated in a media release.
The President's Office further said that the curfew will be reimposed for these three districts at 2.00pm the same day (24).
For all other districts, curfew will be lifted at 6.00am on Monday (23) and will be reimposed at 2.00pm the same day (23). The curfew will be in effect till 6.00am the following day (24).
The release states that a public announcement will be made later regarding the imposition of curfew for all districts.
All liquor shops will remain closed on all periods that the curfew is lifted.
The Government has given instructions to police to let farmers continue their work in districts where farming is currently taking place.
The Government also says that enough essential food items and other goods are in storage and as such, urges people not to engage in panic buying.
Steps have also been taken to send essential food items to places they are needed without any hinderance, the Presidential Secretariat added.
