Customs trade unions end work-to-rule campaign

News

The work-to-rule campaign by Sri Lanka Customs officers has been called off this afternoon. Customs trade union sources said the campaign had been called off following assurances of a discussion with Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake next week.

Customs officers also stated that officials from the Finance Ministry had assured that their views would be taken into account when introducing changes to legislation regarding Sri Lanka Customs.

The work-to-rule campaign was launched on Monday (19) by Customs trade unions demanding the withdrawal of the proposed Customs Ordinance Draft Bill.

Eight trade unions in Sri Lanka Customs took part in the campaign.
