The delgation comprising officals from the UN Sub-Committee on the Prevention of Torture visited Army Camp, Police Station and prisons in Vavuniya yesterday (Apr 07).
The four-member delegation had also visited the LTTE rehabilitation centre that has been set up in Poonthottam, Vavuniya while also visiting the Jaffna and Mullaitivu areas.
The UN delegation which arrived on April 02 is expected to remain until April 12. They are expected to meet state officials, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, and also civil movements during their stay in the country.
The decision to deploy a team of officials from the sub-committee on the Prevention of Torture was made during the recently concluded UNHRC sessions.
