Officials representing the UN Sub-committee on the Prevention of Torture are expected to arrive in the country today (Apr 02).
The Foreign Affairs Ministry said that a four-member delegation will arrive in the country and would remain until April 12.
The purpose of this visit would be to probe into claims of restricted freedom in the country and to create awareness on measures that must be taken to prevent acts of torture from being committed in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs further said.
The delegation is expected to call on Foreign Minister Thilak Marapana and the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.
