Demark's 'Westar' company has won the bid to construct Sri Lanka's largest ever wind power plant which will be constructed in Mannar in the near future.
The company had won the bid after the Ceylon Electricity Board had called for international tenders to be submitted for the construction of this power plant.
A maximum of 140 megawatts of electricity can be produced using the new plant.
Construction is expected to begin during the first quarter of 2019 and conclude by the third quarter of 2020.
Westar Company, in a special announcement said it is engaging in a construction project in Sri Lanka after a period of 19 years. This project will be implemented by funds obtained from the Asian Development Bank, the announcement added.
