A development officer and an agriculture research assistant were arrested today (March 27) for soliciting a bribe of Rs 58,000 from a farmer in the Elahera area, Director of the Bribery Commission, Priyantha Chandrasiri said.
According to the director the money had been requested from the farmer as payment for recommendations to be made in order for the farmer to obtain compensation for crop damages.
The suspects are to be produced before the Hingurakgoda Magistrate Court.
