Former national cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan has announced he would contest the upcoming general election from the Galle District under the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) banner.
“A work plan is essential before entering politics. I will work towards regaining the lost glory of cricket,” Dilshan said speaking to reporters after an event in Kalutara today (Dec 30).
The one-time opening batsman noted that he had met with the President and SLPP leader Mahinda Rajapaksa and obtained their consent to contest the election.
Dilshan obtained membership at the SLPP in November last year.
