Houses in Badulla which were affected by natural disasters in the recent past will be granted compensation starting from Rs 1.2 million, Disaster Management Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara said.
Upon an assessment carried out by the Public Administration Ministry, 3000 houses have been earmarked and will be granted compensation by the Disaster Management Ministry.
Compensation amounts will range from Rs 1.2 million upto Rs 2.4 million based on the damages caused to the affected houses, Minister Bandara noted.
He added that the government will provide slots of land in equal value to the lands which were destroyed due to natural disasters in the recent past.
