Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (Oct 30) pledged to empower the Police to create a crime-free country under his rule.
“If we create a proper environment for the police to enforce the law, this country can become rid from crimes and ensure fair implementation of the law,” Dissanayake told a rally in Ampara.
The National People’s Power (NPP) candidate pledged to create a government that would eradicate poverty in the country. He pointed out that politicians are using poverty and the issues of the people as tools to gain political advantage.
“Our country is poor. But our rulers are rich,” he remarked while pointing out that the country had become poor mainly because state property has been looted by the previous governments.
Dissanayake, pointed out that equally implementing the law, creating a rule free of corruption, and ensuring national security and unity, are vital factors to build a country. “A country cannot be developed without building these aspects,” he opined.
The NPP candidate, stressed that poverty in the rural areas of the country should be eradicated along with the debts of the people. “To resolve this situation, we should uplift the lives of the people by developing their modes of income,” he pointed out.
Dissanayake, said that seeds of a high quality will be sold to farmers at reasonable rates under his rule, to ensure nourishment in the country. He added that proper irrigation systems too would be implemented to uplift the agricultural sector.
