DMC insists no tsunami threat to SL

The Disaster Management Center (DMC) says there is no threat of a tsunami on any coastal area of Sri Lanka and has asked members of the public not to be misled by baseless rumors. 

There have been reports of residents in certain areas in the East, such as Batticaloa and Ampara, panicking amid reports of water levels in some beaches receding. 

However, the DMC says the Department of Meteorology is constantly monitoring the situation and there was no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka at present.
