Driver seriously injured after van falls off bridge
A businessman suffered serious injuries when a van skidded off the road and fell off a bridge in Puttalam this morning (14). Police said the incident had occurred around 5.30am along the Puttalam-Mannar old road.
The victim, a businessman from Wanathawilluwa, had been on his way home from Puttalam when he lost control of the van he was driving, resulting in the vehicle skidding off the road and crashing into a bridge. The van had then fallen off the bridge.
Area residents said it was a miracle that the businessman survived. He had escaped death as he was flung from his vehicle when it struck the bridge. He was later found with serious injuries a short distance from his vehicle. He has been admitted to the Puttalam Hospital.
