The total number of people affected by the persisting drought conditions in certain parts of the country has arisen to 600,000, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said today (April 18).
Accordingly, steps have been taken to distribute approximately 10,000 water tanks to the drought-hit areas, the DMC noted.
Meanwhile, the public was requested to donate water tanks or bottled water to the DMC in order to distribute them across areas which have been badly affected by the drought.
Further, the general public can call 117 and notify the DMC about affected areas following which measures would be taken to disburse relief supplies to those regions.
