A crocodile that had wandered into Kumankulam area in Vavuniya while searching for water, was captured and released into the Vavuniya Forest Reserve by wildlife officers.
Officers from the Department of Wildlife Conservation's Vavuniya office stated that about 10 crocodiles that had wandered into areas inhabited by humans had been captured in the recent past. Officers attributed the number of crocodiles seen in the villages to the prevailing drought situation, which has forced them to go in search of water.
