The sudden death of a resident from Nugegoda who was undergoing treatment at the Chilaw hospital after being admitted there from a quarantine centre is being probed to ascertain if the person died of COVID-19.
The resident of Nanda Mawatha, Nugegoda had returned from Dubai on September 2 and was undergoing quarantine at a hotel in the Ambakandawila area from where he was rushed to hospital on Sunday.
He passed away in the early hours of today (14).
The returnee had earlier undergone a PCR test and the test showed that he was negative for COVID-19.
Samples have been collected from the patient to determine if the death was caused by COVID-19
