Fifty-eight families from two DS Divisions in Ratnapura, comprising 220 members were evacuated due to risk of earthslips last evening, officials at the Ratnapura District Secretariat said.
The evacuated families are from the Ratnapura AGA Division and Pelmadulla AGA Division. People living close to the Kalu Ganga have been advised to be cautious given the rising water levels. Some have already moved to safer locations, officials added. (PCK)
