Earthslips in the New Weligama area in Norwood, Hatton have forced 59 persons belonging to 11 families out of their homes as rains continue to batter the central region of the country.
Three houses were partially damaged along with several other belongings of these residents who have been currently lodged at the Norwood Tamil School.
No deaths had been reported due to the earth slip.
Police officers have been deployed to assist area residents as weather authorities continue to predict landslides in the hilly areas due to heavy rains in the country.
The Norwood Pradeshiya Sabha is currently assisting in providing relief and accomodation for affected residents.
