Easter Sunday attacks : Foreign casualty toll at 36 ; remains of 13 victims repatriated

The number of foreign nationals who were killed during last Sunday's explosions stands at 36 as of today (Apr 24).

Among the deceased are 11 Indian nationals, six UK nationals, and three Danish nationals, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Further, two nationals each from China, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey have also been identified among the victims. In addition, one citizen each from Bangladesh, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and US have been identified as well.

The blasts had also claimed the lives of two dual citizens of US and UK and also two dual citizens of Australia and Sri Lanka.

Additionally, 14 foreign nationals are unaccounted for at present, and could be among the unidentified victims at the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer’s mortuary. However, the remains of 13 foreign nationals have been repatriated to date, the Foreign Affairs Ministry noted.

Twelve foreign nationals injured in the attacks are receiving treatment at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital (Kalubowila Teaching Hospital) and at private hospitals in Colombo.
