EC to write to Galle DS on Elpitiya polls
The Elections Commission (EC) is to write to the Galle District Secretary seeking to issue a gazette on Monday concerning the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha elections, Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said.
The Supreme Court had suspended the polls until a verdict was issued on a petition filed by the Democratic United National Front against the EC's decision to reject its nomination paper in 2017.
Yesterday, court ordered the polls body to accept the nomination paper and conduct the elections at the earliest.
